1. Ujjawala Introduced for prevention of trafficking, rescue, rehabilitation and reintegration of victims of trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation . The scheme provides prevention through formation of community vigilance groups and awareness and sensitization of key functioning, rescue and safe withdrawal of the victim from the place of exploitation. Provisions have also been made for rehabilitation, which include safe shelter for victims with basic inputs of food, clothing, counseling and vocational training. 2. Swadhar Swadhar Scheme was launched in 2001-02, recognising the need for a project based approach to address the requirements of women in difficult circumstances. The objective of the scheme is to comprehensively rehabilitate widows, victims of trafficking, victims of natural calamities, mentally challenged and destitute women. The scheme provides for support like food and shelter, counselling, medical facilities and vocational training to women. The scheme also envisages setting up help-lines for women in distress. In the 2012 Union Budget, it was proposed to merge Swadhar scheme with Short Stay Homes and renamed as Swadhar Greh. No. of Swadhar Homes to be converted into Swadhar Greh depends on receipt of requisite information from State Governments.
